Grants and Loans for Single Parents To Attend College
| Professional studies are the most fundamental requirement in today’s life. Professional training and experience earned while completing college studies is vital in getting better jobs that pay well. |

Due to several unexplained reasons, parents are unable to complete their professional education. This becomes even more impossible once they get separated from their partners and have kids. Even though single parents have the intention of getting back to school, they usually do not have enough finances to support their tuition fees and other educational expenses. However, financial aid is available from the state and federal government in the form of scholarships and grants for helping single parents pay their education costs.
The fundamental requirement in order to be eligible for a federal grant or scholarship is to fill out and submit a FAFSA form in the desired college or university. Some of the grants that are available for single parents include Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Academic Competitiveness Grant and National SMART Grant. While Pell Grants and FSEOG are open to all, only students with exceptional academic excellence are eligible for Academic Competitiveness Grant and National SMART Grant. Apart from these, several minority and women colleges offer private-funded grants to single parents.
Many times, money available through federal grants and scholarships is insufficient to cover educational costs. Federal loans are available to single parents in order to get out of such situations. However, not everybody would be eligible for a federal loan. Low interest single parent student loans are available from private lending firms so as to cater to the educational needs of such students.
